About Me — Lindsey Tam
Why It Doesn’t Hurt to Try New Things
Hi! Hello! My name is Lindsey Tam. By day, I am a Software Engineer at Zoom, and by night I am writing about my experiences as a programmer…if I’m not playing Super Smash Bros. Beyond coding, you can find me losing all my money on Crypto and stocks (I just have a gift for choosing the right things).
I was born and raised in San Diego. In high school, I did a lot of Speech and Debate, which made my mom think I was going to be a lawyer. I probably had a lot of experience with arguing thanks to my younger sister. My proudest achievement of high school was making my prom dress out of Duct Tape (see my cringy high school pics here). I even got a scholarship from it!
After high school, I attended a community college because I wanted to take some time to figure out what I wanted to do with my life. During my two years there, I considered becoming an Anthropologist but decided fieldwork was not for me. Then, I thought I wanted to be a doctor, but after volunteering to do research with an actual doctor, I quickly realized I had no passion for biology or chemistry. At my community college, I enjoyed studying Math. So upon getting accepted to Pomona College, I made a somewhat-impulsive decision to major in Math. I didn’t really know what I wanted to do career-wise, but at least I would enjoy what I was…
