Why I Hated God
And Then Fell In Love…
As a curious little runt, I had many questions for my parents. Some selfish, like, “Why do I have to eat my veggies?!”, while others were profound.
“Why are we here?”, “Why are there so many stars in the sky?”, “Why is the sun hot?” “Why is the sky blue?”
My parents never crushed my curiosity, but my curiosities were always answered using the same device: God.
The sun was hot because God had made it so. The sky was blue because God made it so. God decorated the night sky with so many stars because he’s the greatest artist.
Event though they were technically answering my questions, they were not solving my curiosity. Hence, at a very young age of 11, I stopped believing in any of the Gods (I am a Hindu) which were presented to me and decided to follow the path of logic. Science became the light which diffused the darkness of my ignorance.
I quickly learnt that the Sun was hot, not because of God, but because of nuclear fusion. I learnt that the sky was blue because of something called the Rayleigh Effect.
Not only that, I understood that everything in nature follows a certain logic. Like a waterfall flows along the beaten path that’s etched in the very earth to meet the river, everything in nature follows a certain logic to attain its form.
