My Collective Nexus: Why I’m Building a Sanctuary for People Like Us

I’m 32 years old. Late diagnosed with autism and ADHD. My entire Life has been a puzzle that nobody bothered to solve.
I owe you an apology for disappearing. I’ve been in my self-proclaimed exile, fighting a war inside my own skull while trying to figure out if I even deserve to exist. But I’m back now, and I need to tell you why I’m building this. Why the necessity to grow up with blanket forts to hide away from the world, and why the need for the Nexus to face the world?
The Beginning
From ages 1 to 3, I was locked in closets. Not by my parents directly — they paid a babysitter downstairs who ran a cash-for-state-credits operation, keeping as many kids as possible crammed into her place. My mom worked. My dad jerked off to porn somewhere in the house (a closet, most likely, how he managed to get a tube TV in there is beyond me). That’s my earliest memory. Being locked away in darkness.
