About Me — Ashley Samuel
On growth, identity, and the waffle part
I’m a little bit of everything.
Or at least that’s an easier way to say that I’m not really sure “who I am,” and I don’t think I ever will be.
If you’re looking for my biography, then you’re in the wrong place. But chances are that you’re not because that’s the boring stuff no one wants to read about.
At 25, my version of finding myself is about finding my voice and my confidence. It’s about trying things just to try them and letting myself experiment while I can because life is too short to overthink a nose piercing. I’m not as focused on my preferences as I used to be. And I realize that who I am isn’t defined by what I like or dislike, despite having spent hours as a teen doing BuzzFeed quizzes to find out what shape of waffle I was.
We all fit into different niches at various points in our lives.
Before I get too existential, here are some of my more permanent identity points.
I’m a mom to one sweet and slightly wild toddler. I’m married to my favorite person in the whole world, and it’s my completely unbiased opinion that we will be together til death. I spent four years of my youth earning the highly valuable and revered English degree. Lastly, I’m a grad student studying…
